Meet Our Founder
Naa-Shorme is an educator, writer and creator of Write to Live. She is a 1st generation Ghanaian American, from New Orleans, La, raised in Brooklyn, NY. Knowing that she wanted to use her education to serve others, she attended Georgetown University for her undergraduate studies where she studied Sociology and English. After making the typical millennial decision to make change instead of money, she joined Teach For America after graduation and taught in Harlem, NY. While doing so, she earned her Masters in Education from Fordham University.
Her passion for increasing opportunities for youth to own their futures has brought her from New York where she coached educators throughout the city, to South Africa as a Fulbright Scholar focused on education/youth development, and back. Through Write to Live, she continues to empower students to use their education, talents and voice to create the change they want to see in their world.
When she is not doing any of the above, you can typically find her frolicking around Brooklyn with friends, dancing to hip-hop or afrobeats, or enjoying some alone time with a candle, soft jazz and a journal, good book or a movie.
